Final Day - Disney-MGM Studios and Wrapping Up

Theme Park Fatigue. It's not a pretty picture.

Which makes it just as well that we were also suffering from Photography Phatigue, which is to say we hardly took any pictures all day.

This day we decided to visit the only Disney park we hadn't all been to yet: Disney-MGM Studios. Kenneth and Steinar had been here for Fantasmic! a few days before, and had had time for a couple of rides between dinner and the show. So Kenneth dragged his dad, his little brother and me to what had been his favorite Disney ride so far: Star Tours. I noted that this was a simulator ride. "It's not like a real wild rough simulator ride," Kenneth promised. He lied. Or perhaps our views of reality simply differed on this point. However, I have never in my life enjoyed being jolted and thrown around like a marble in a Coke can half this much. Good fun.

We also loved the MuppetVision 3D movie. Loved it so much we happily saw it twice. After taking in a few more attractions and having lunch together with my parents, Steinar and Kenneth headed off to the Blizzard Beach waterpark. The younger to hit the waterslides and the elder to lie in the sun and watch the bikinis. Yes, it was plenty warm enough for a waterpark in January. I understand this is something of a fluke, but hey, we'll take it.

Mom, Dad, Robert and I stuck around to see the Beauty and the Beast musical, which was fantastic. I asked Robert if he wanted to see the Playhouse Disney show, since he's a big Bear in the Big Blue House fan, but no. I think he was all parked out at this point. All he wanted to do was go back to the hotel and swim. Which we did.

We had talked about going back to this park or that to pick up something we hadn't done... but in the end, we swam, napped, and had supper at the hotel. We spent the evening at Downtown Disney, souvenir shopping, then finished packing at the hotel before turning in for an early night.

(For the record: Kenneth is not taller than my father, yet. He's standing on a platform. The arm that appears to be coming out of his hip belongs to a statue of Daisy Duck behind him. This was taken at the pin shop at Downtown Disney, where Dad was looking for the perfect Goofy and Donald pins.)

There are two more pages left to go, which would mostly be of interest to people planning a Disney World vacation themselves - one page lists my thoughts on what we did right and what we'll try to do differently next time, and the other includes a list of useful resources for planning. This concludes the guided portion of our tour. Feel free to drop me a line if you have a comment or question, or if my typos are too irritating. Casaflodnak says Thanks, and Happy Motoring!
