Cindy

cindy, head flodnak I was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA, in 1969. I graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1987, and attended the University of Pittsburgh for three years. Then I married and moved to Trondheim, Norway. I got my degree (cand.mag./BA) in linguistics from what was them AVH (the College of Arts and Sciences) at the University of Trondheim (now NTNU), in December 1993, just in time for our first child, Kenneth, to be born in February 1994. We moved to Bærum, near Oslo, in May 1998. Our younger son, Robert (Robby), was born in February 2000. As of this writing, I'm at home with the boys, with no plans to change that soon.

I am administrator for two mailing lists: biling-fam, a list for bilingual and multi-lingual families, and puffins, a list for Americans with Norwegian connections (and vice versa).

Hobbies and passions, in no particular order: bilingualism in children, Montessori education, chocolate (so many chocolates in the world, and I'll never taste them all *sigh*), sewing, trains (especially steam locomotives), astronomy, cooking and baking, urban legends, and music.

I'm a new member of the American Women's Club here in Oslo.

My favorite band is a-ha.

I'm hoping to have a page of "Mommy Links" soon, but let me stick in one now so I don't forget about it myself - Heather Madrone's wonderful Nipple Soreness FAQ - saved my sanity when we came down with thrush!

Everyone Wants To Know Department: Steinar and I met through the now-defunct BITnet Relay (may it rest in peace in that great bitbucket in the sky), back in 1987, while I was studying at Pitt.
